What Coastal Installation Actually Involves in Shrivardhan

"Marine-grade" gets used loosely in solar quotations, so it is worth being specific about what a Shrivardhan installation genuinely needs and why the cheapest quote is so often the most expensive one over ten years.

The problem is chloride. Salt aerosol carried inland from the Arabian Sea settles on every exposed surface and, in the humidity this coast holds for most of the year, drives galvanic corrosion at any point where dissimilar metals meet. On an inland roof a plain painted-steel structure might last a decade. Within a couple of kilometres of the Shrivardhan shoreline the same structure can show serious degradation in a fraction of that time, and a mounting structure failing under a monsoon squall takes the panels with it.

Monsoon and generation through the year

Shrivardhan takes a heavy monsoon, and it is worth being realistic about what that means: generation drops substantially through roughly June to September. Any installer promising uniform year-round output is not being straight with you. What actually happens is that the strong October-to-May months carry the annual average, and net metering credits banked in those months offset the monsoon dip on your bill.

The practical upside is that heavy rain keeps panels reasonably clean for part of the year. The downside is that the same rain finds every weakness in the waterproofing, which is why sealing quality matters more here than almost anywhere inland.

Resorts and homestays near Harihareshwar

Shrivardhan taluka's tourism businesses — resorts, homestays and lodges around Harihareshwar and Diveagar — have a load profile that suits solar particularly well. Occupancy peaks in the dry season, which is precisely when generation is strongest, so a high proportion of what you generate is consumed on site rather than exported. Commercial tariffs are also considerably higher than residential ones, which shortens payback.
